به گزارش خبرگزاری هرانا، ارگان خبری مجموعه فعالان حقوق بشر در ایران، روز یکشنبه ۳۱ خرداد ماه، هنگامی که آقای عبدی قصد مسافرت به ارمنستان داشت، ضمن ضبط پاسپورت از خروج وی ممانعت به عمل آمد.
آقای عبدی با اعلام این مطلب نوشته است که مسئول ابلاغ حکم ممنوع الخروجی، دلیل این ممنوعیت را دستور اجرای احکام اوین عنوان کرده و افزوده است که باید روز چهارشنبه سوم تیرماه به معاونت قضایی دادستانی کشور در تهران مراجعه کند.
اسماعیل عبدی که سابقه بازداشت نیز دارد و در آخرین مورد به ده سال حبس محکوم شده است، در اردیبهشت ماه و همزمان با تجمعات اعتراضی معلمان در سراسر کشور، احضار و عدم اجرای حکم حبس وی منوط به استعفا شده بود، این استعفا مورد قبول هیئت مدیره کانون صنفی معلمان قرار نگرفت.
